The font used on this album cover used a distinct Display typeface with fat, chunky characters and angular accents. This was hugely popular in Australia going to #1 there. Well-played Sabbath doesn’t necessarily mean enjoyable Sabbath.įor me the best part was them talking about their trip to the UK and the chance to see the places connected to Black Sabbath, such as Black Sabbath Bridge or the Watermill on the cover of the first album. ![]() The gig itself was fine with a great performance by the band (despite the venue being nowhere near full) but it did make me realise that I’m not a great fan of Sabbath’s back-catalogue. One recent band, Black Sabbitch, are, like The Iron Maidens and The Ramonas, an all-female tribute to the similarly named 70s metal band from Birmingham. Sub 89 in Reading is a great venue for tribute bands (and those bands that were popular so long ago that they are now also tribute bands to their previous incarnations). ![]()
